Hope was our first doe that we bred here at Golden Plains Mini-Nubians.  She was a very stubborn goat who was good most of the time, but when she disagreed with you, you were in for a time of difficulty (running away or planting all fours!)   Hope milked an average of #3 daily as a FF, and #5 3oz average her second freshening.  Her udder was not attached very well, but she did have nice easy to milk teats.  She stood well for being milked and really did love attention.  Hope was sold to someone who just wanted another milker.

Flurry and her twin brother were the first goats born on our place!  When she was first born we thought that she was black, then she started drying out and we realized that she is a nice beautiful blue roan.  We thought that it looked like a snow flurry had just passed over her!  Flurry's ears unfortunately are only 2/3 drop, so even though she is 6th generation, we could only register her as Experimental.  Flurry has a well attached udder, but her teat placement could be better.  Flurry was our smallest doe.  She was sold to a neighbor who I know will take great care of her, and I can go visit!  Flurry will always have a special place in our hearts, being the first doe born on our place with the "Golden Plains" herdname.

Pearl is a goat that is as sweet as can be.  She is technically 6th generation, but is registered as American instead of Purebred due to the fact that her ears aren't quite long enough.  We were not originally going to retain her since we have her full-sister, but her sale fell through, so we have decided to keep her for at least one breeding season.  Her udder is decently attached, but her teats are on the small side. Pearl was sold as a milking doe.

We added Faith to our herd at the end of the summer of 2014.  We already had her full sister, and we liked her bloodlines, so we decided to get Faith as well.  Faith is a little bit stand-off-ish, but is still friendly and fairly easy to handle.  As you can see she has nice long ears and a good roman nose.  Her udder is decently put together, but could use better udder attachments.  As a second freshener, she produced 6 1/2-7 lbs daily.  She is very easy to milk, and the milk tastes nice and creamy.

Faith unfortunately has not taken the last few years, despite our best efforts in trying to get her bred.  We are unsure of what happened to cause this.  Faith is now for sale as a companion animal/pet/weed eater only!

It was a very hard decision deciding which other doeling to keep that year (2016).  We were going between Arianna and her twin sister, and the deciding point was that we just really liked Arianna and her unique color!  She is a gold/red buckskin, but also has moon spots!  You cannot see the moon spots very well due to her light color and their placement, but they were very clear when she was younger. She has long and wide ears, and her roman nose is quite pronounced.  Arianna freshened with a decently attached udder and easy to milk teats.  As a second freshener, Arianna was awarded her milk start by milking 6.28 lbs with 4.45% butterfat in one day.

Crystal was our first doeling out of our wonderful buck, Winchester!  Winchester had thrown only bucks his first year in March, so when this little one came around in May, we were thrilled!  We were originally planning on selling Crystal, but we decided that we really wanted to keep a Winchester daughter and freshen her.  Crystal is a definite improvement over her dam.  She freshened with a decently-attached udder and easy to milk teats.  On a 12 hr fill/separation from her kids she milked slightly over 3 lbs.  Unfortunately, her second freshening she had some mild frostbite on her udder, thus weakening the udder and teat walls and making her harder to milk.  Even with the damage, she was still able to earn her milk star as a second freshener, milking 6.27 lbs of milk with 5.18% butterfat in one day. She has now moved on to bless another herd.

Belle is a very gentle goat with a little bit more of a timid personality.  She was the first daughter out of Firecracker that we are kept.  Her dam is one of my favorite goats and milks very well.  We like Belle's overall conformation, plus she is polled!  Belle freshened with a well attached udder that looks a lot like her dam's udder.  Belle milked just over 3 lbs on a 12 hour fill her first freshening.

Primrose was an easy choice to keep, as she is out of my favorite doe, Jazmine.  Primrose inherited Jazmine's amazingly gentle personality, and we are hoping that she inherits her dam's milking ability as well.  Primrose is one of the first goats to greet us, and is always the last to leave us when the other goats decide to walk away.  She freshened with a very nice udder with good capacity.  She earned her milk star easily as a second freshener.  She peaked at over 8 lbs of milk a day.

We brought Willow home at the same time that we brought her dam, Faith, home.  She is a well behaved and friendly doe.  She has a well shaped udder, and she is super easy and fast to milk!  Willow is by far our easiest goat to hand milk, but also does well on the machine.  On a 12 hr fill/separation from her kid she milked 4 lbs, 11.4 oz.  Her daughter, Sassafras, inherited her ease of milking.  Willow is at the top of the height range for a Mini Nubian.

Stella is herd queen and has a lot of personality.  She has a bit of spunk yet is easy to handle and does not mind being separated from the herd.  She is also a very good mother.  Stella is fairly long and wide and has large, long, and wide ears and a very decent roman nose.  I also really enjoy her moonspots.  Stella has a great udder with good attachments.  As a second freshener, she produced over 5 lbs of milk on a 12 hr fill! We like her conformation/udder so much that we now have 3 of her daughters in our herd.

Sassafras is a very friendly sweet doeling that we are very excited about!  It is always hard to decide which doelings to keep for the year, and we decided on Sassafras due to her overall conformation and her dam's udder and super easy to milk teats, which we hope she passes on to her daughter.  Not only does Sassafras have a nice personality, and good overall conformation, but she also is beautifully moon spotted.  We do not breed specifically for spots, but we always enjoy getting them!  Sassafras freshened with a nicely shaped udder and easy to milk teats.  She milked 3.39 lbs on her first 12 hr. fill this year.

We are SUPER excited to bring Clair into our herd!  Clair has an absolutely AMAZING milk pedigree and the best breed character that I have seen in a Mini-Nubian in a long time!  Clair's dam, Cali, has one of the best udders in the Green Gables herd with "incredible capacity, attachments, teat size and placement, the whole package".  We are very much looking forward to watching Clair grow and mature and see if she's just as amazing as her dam!  Clair is also very gentle and everyone's best friend.  She freshened this year with a very well attached udder and good udder height.  Her teats wing out some, but that may correct itself with further freshenings.  She milked 2.49 lbs on a her first 12 hr. fill.

Nutmeg is a big love bug and is one of the first in the pasture to come greet us.  When taken away from the herd, she will just follow her people around everywhere, which does make taking good pictures of her difficult!  Her dam is our highest producing doe, her highest peak being almost 12 lbs a day!  Her dam does, however need better udder attachments.  Nutmeg freshened with improved udder attachments over her dam, especially the fore udder.  Her teats are shorter than I like, however, that can change a lot within the first few freshenings.  She peaked at over 4 lbs of milk a day as a first freshener.
